What’s on in the KZN South Coast this September 2024

This September, the KZN South Coast is proud to celebrate World Tourism Month and Heritage Day with a lineup of key events that highlight the region’s vibrant culture, sports, and natural beauty. From elite sports tournaments to cultural festivals, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the KZN South Coast.

Ugu International Film Festival
A platform for both emerging and established filmmakers, the Ugu International Film Festival is a celebration of cinematic creativity. Held annually, this festival brings together film enthusiasts to appreciate a diverse range of films while fostering a love for the arts within the community.

South Coast Marathon
The South Coast Marathon a Comrades qualifier offers 42km, 21km, 10km races and a 5km family fun run. Open to both locals and visitors, this scenic marathon is the perfect challenge for runners of all levels. Register now and secure your spot in this exciting event! Ugu Maskandi Festival
This vibrant festival celebrates the traditional Maskandi music, a genre deeply rooted in Zulu culture. The Ugu Maskandi Festival is a lively gathering that attracts music lovers from all walks of life, offering a unique cultural experience on the South Coast.

South Coast Cycle Tour
Cyclists will be thrilled to participate in the annual South Coast Cycle Tour, an event that combines challenging routes with breathtaking coastal views. The tour caters to cyclists of all skill levels and is a highlight for both local and visiting enthusiasts. The cycle starts off with a 90km followed by the 45km route.

KZN Provincial Indigenous Games
As part of Heritage Month celebrations, the KZN Provincial Indigenous Games bring traditional African sports to the forefront. This event is a celebration of heritage and culture, offering spectators a chance to witness and participate in traditional games that have been passed down through generations.
Where: Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre, Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground and Margate Sports School
When: 27 – 29 September 2024
Time: 08h00 – 17h00, times may vary

About KZN South Coast

Known as the ‘Paradise of the Zulu Kingdom, the KZN South Coast stretches 120 kilometres from Scottburgh to Port Edward and inland to Harding.
