South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise Celebrates World Tourism Day with Hibberdene Beach Cleanup

In celebration of World Tourism Day on 27 September 2024, South Coast Tourism and Investment Enterprise (SCTIE), in collaboration with several key stakeholders, organized a successful beach cleanup at Hibberdene Beach. This initiative, which underscores the importance of environmental conservation for sustainable tourism, saw enthusiastic participation from various organisations and community members.

The event was proudly sponsored by Luckys Manaba, who came on board as the title sponsor, playing a key role in ensuring the day’s success. SCTIE was also joined by Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Waste Management, Coca-Cola, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Tourism KZN, Government Communications and Information Systems (GCIS), The Port Shepstone Area committee and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality. Together, these stakeholders contributed to making the cleanup a meaningful step towards maintaining the natural beauty and environmental health of the KZN South Coast.

Deborah Ludick, Manager: Finance, HR and Administration at SCTIE, expressed her gratitude for the support shown by the stakeholders and local community. “World Tourism Day is a reminder of the role we all play in protecting our environment. Hibberdene Beach is not only a popular destination for tourists but also an integral part of our local ecosystem and a Blue Fag Beach. Today’s efforts demonstrate the power of partnerships in preserving our natural assets. We are especially thankful to Luckys Manaba for their generous sponsorship and to all the organisations that joined us in this endeavour.”

SCTIE remains committed to fostering collaborations that drive sustainable tourism while protecting the region’s rich natural heritage. World Tourism Day 2024 has not only been a celebration of tourism but also a reminder of the responsibility to protect the environment for future generations.
