Make every Easter moment memorable at Wild Coast Sun

Have fun in the sun at the seaside these school holidays

Some of the best childhood memories involve Easter holiday fun, and with its temperate climate, the four-star rated Wild Coast Sun is the ideal destination for the whole family to gather.

Getting the kids off their screens and getting active outdoors will be key, and the Resort’s Blue Flag rated beach will provide the perfect location for beach soccer and volleyball games, hoola-hoop and tug-of-war battles.  Other activities in and around the hotel will include Easter egg hunts.

Spend a day at Wild Waves Water Park, which was designed for the whole family, with rides to thrill the grown-ups and teenagers, and smaller water features where toddlers can splash. There will also be an abundance of activities happening within the park over the long weekend.

“Aloha Village is our family entertainment centre, which offers ten-pin bowling and arcade games, including video and funfair-style games for days when you need a break from the sun or an escape from inclement weather,” said Wild Coast Sun General Manager, Peter Tshidi. The Magic Company Arcade within Aloha Village boasts the first indoor Skypark in South Africa. Challenge the family to problem-solving skills with Breakout escape room.  Squawkers crèche offers supervised fun for children over the school holidays.

With 750 hectares of lush indigenous bush, the property is a destination of choice for golfers, boasting a top ranked 18-hole golf course. “With the popularity of the Wild Coast Sun Golf Course, our new online booking system makes it easier for visitors and guests to ensure they pre-book their tee time for our magnificently-curated fairways,” said Tshidi.

The Mtamvuna River, Riverside Aqua Sports and Beach Bar has water sports and river activities such as kayaking, speed boats, paddle boats, tube rides, water skiing and a lazy boat cruise.

Over Easter, the casino, with its wide range of slot machines and popular tables games, will offer a number of promotions such as R40 000 cash draw, on Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. MVG’s must earn 10 points on draw day to qualify.

Grab a bite to eat at one of the fast food stores or restaurants including Maltos, Barcelos, Panarotti’s and Spur, or indulge in a meal with an Indian Ocean backdrop at the resort’s various sit-down restaurants and bars such as Chico’s and Lagoon Bar.

Gather the family and have an Easter Sunday buffet lunch at Chico’s for R259 per person, R139 for children under 12, from 1pm until 3pm.

Start with Butternut soup and freshly baked bread, a salad valley extravaganza, followed by every Sunday lunch dish your heart could desire, from roast chicken and lamb, curries, seafood paella, roast gammon, and delicious sides like roast potatoes and butternut, creamed spinach and vegetable pasta bake. In keeping with the Easter theme, pudding includes hot cross bun bread and butter pudding with custard, as well as a waffle station and more.

After a busy first quarter of the year, guests can revive tired bodies and minds at the Mangwanani Spa, with face and body treatments.

Located just 5km from Port Edward, the resort lies on the border of the KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape, and is a two-hour drive from Durban’s King Shaka International Airport.
