6 extreme adventures to try on the KZN South Coast

After months of lockdown and isolation, it’s time to #GoMakeMemories this #TourismMonth2020 in the beautiful South African outdoors – and there’s no better place to explore nature than the KZN South Coast! Here’s a look at the top 7 extreme adventures you can try this September.

1. Extreme swinging

The @Wild5Adventures Wild Gorge Swing is the world’s highest swing of its kind, and it provides thrill-seekers with the chance to jump of the edge of Lehr’s Waterfall, dropping 55 storeys.

2. Shark diving

The KZN South Coast is home to two internationally-renowned dive sites – Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks. Here you can swim with a variety of marine life including several shark species.

3. Offroad adventures

The many nature reserves consist of a mapwork of exciting 4×4, mountain biking and offroad biking trails, one of which is the recently launched KwaNzimakwe Multi-trails.

4. The Lake Eland Suspension Bridge

Get to Lake Eland Game Reserve for another @Wild5Adventures experience and check out some of the best local views from the 84m cable-suspended bridge sitting 100 metres off the ground.

5. Ziplining

If that’s not enough excitement, @Wild5Adventures also offers a guided zipline tour consisting of 14 slides that reach speeds of up to 160km an hour. The first slide is sure to get the heart racing with a 1km slide straight down.

6. Microlight adventures

For a thrilling ride from the skies, World of Wings offers microlight flips in 15-minute, 30-minute or one-hour time slots, promising incredible views of Aliwal Shoal, Scottburgh and even the lower South Coast.
