Into the hinterland, camping in the South Coast’s forests
The South Coast is known for its beaches and fun days in the sun, but there are so many more interesting and beautiful destinations a little more inland, perfect for camping! Mittenwald Caravan Park located in Port Edward is a lovely caravan park and camping site surrounded by trees, the beach is close by, but still a little drive from the site itself. Mittenwald is a sanctuary of its own, surrounded by large old indigenous trees, a variety of bird species and a refreshing swimming pool! This campsite is perfect for campers who want to travel a little more inland while still being within a short distance from the beach. A visit to the park is affordable and campers can expect to have tranquil quiet days lounging on camp chairs and enjoying a nice afternoon braai with the facilities on site.
Lake Eland Game Reserve in Port Shepstone is another great choice, surrounded by breath-taking sights and a lovely lake, this is a camper and a fisherman’s dream! The Game Reserve has many spots available, along the lake’s edge, there are options for campers to pitch their tents and enjoy some fishing, along with wonderful sunsets and sunrises. Each camp area is equipped with braai facilities and a covered area that can be used for a caravan or other vehicles parking. There are ablution and electricity blocks nearby each camp area and a children’s playground near reception. This is the perfect escape away from the hustle and bustle!
